Don't be fooled or mislead by cheap imported bad copies from Asia ! We created BioFlex in 2001, and since then, we have seen progressively over the years cheap copies of our products introduced in the body jewellery market with similar names. Although we understand the welknown copycat culture has made the great success of some Asian countries, we totally disaprove the fact that they put on the body jewellery market products that are not finished properly, and worse, made out of materials that are by nature far away from the requirements of the European Council Directives, and US FDA. We do not find here respectable competitors, but on the contrary companies that are out there purely to make a fast buck disregarding the end consumer health ! They sell from Asia, and are not interested to know if you are going to have any problem with it, and you could well end up having trouble indeed. If the plastic jewellery sold to you is not a medical grade, approved by official institutions with the right tests passed, you could well find yourself with a plastic containing armful substances for the body, even carcinogenic ! We are frustrated to see many online companies selling honestly what they believe to be a safe product, as confirmed by the Asian companies who sold them these products, making the confusion in the mind of the end consumer even greater, as the products come from reputable European or American companies. To these honest companies and to you, the end consumer, we say beware !

BioFlex is a medical grade plastic that fulfils the requirements on materials used for articles and components of articles intended for medical use as described in :
- Council of Europe : European Pharmacopoeia, 5th edition (2004) and supplement 01/2007 regulations.
- USA : passed successfully the USP (United States Pharmacopoeia) testing including the class VI biocompatibility test and has been assigned an FDA Drugmaster File.
- Furthermore, our material has also successfully passed the biological tests according ISO 10993.
So yes, we understand your confusion between so many similar names, and we don't want to discredit every other material out there, it is not our intention. We simply want here to bring to your attention a potential risk or threat to your health, that you would not have suspected, just because it is plastic! All you need is a pair of scissors or a sharp blade to reduce the length of your BioFlex bar to exactly the length that is right for you.
Allow extra length for swelling in fresh piercings, then as the swelling reduces, you can reduce the length of the bar! ... again that's how you save money!!!! You don't need to buy shorter lengths.

It is brittle and therefore breaks easily - think about the tongue - Bioflex is flexible and won't break. Acrylic studs are supplied in a set length, and if you try to cut them, they are likely to shatter. BioFlex can be cut with a simple sharp blade. It can therefore be cut to the length that you want to fit your piercing. Acrylic stud ends are BIG. Our Bioflex comes in a range of sizes with different ends to suit your type of piercing - beyond your expectations.. You can use BioFlex for your piercing and to hide it if you need - all in one item ! A BioFlex tongue labret, or stud will protect your teeth - something we know is concerning the Dental profession. It you have a tongue piercing, you will know what I'm talking about, regarding your bottom teeth. Similarly, a lip pierced with BioFlex will not damage the gums and teeth in the way that metal does..
